How do I pay for Counseling?

There are lots of different insurance companies and EAP's (Employee Assistance Programs) and the requirements for each company are different. If you have insurance, contact them to see if you need pre-authorization for counseling services. Your insurance card will have a toll free number to call for a pre-certification number. You may need to contact your Human Resource Department for contact information for EAP benefits.

If you do not have insurance or your insurance does not cover mental health services, LCS offers a sliding fee scale that is based on income and number in household. Please contact us for further information if you would like to utilize our sliding fee scale.

I have an EAP. What is that?

An EAP (Employee Assistance Program) is a benefit that an employer provides for an employee. An EAP provides a limited number, usually three to six sessions per year, at no cost to the employee. The EAP usually addresses short term, situational problems like situational depression, couples counseling, short term anxiety, or grieving a recent death. There is no co-pay and no deductible.

Check with your Human Resource department to see if your employer provides an EAP benefit.

I'm interested in couples counseling. Is that different?

Most insurance companies do not provide benefits for couples counseling. The first step would be to contact your insurance to see if they do. If they provide benefits, you may receive a pre-authorization number to bring to the first session. If they do not provide couples counseling benefits, we can still help. Your EAP (Employee Assistance Program) may cover this service. If you do not have insurance or EAP benefits, we offer a sliding fee scale that is income and number in household based.

You're not on my insurance. What do I do now?

Most insurance companies have a list of therapists that they contract with and approve to provide services to their members. If Lewisville Counseling Services is not currently contracted with your insurance company we may still be able to help! Most insurance companies have Out of Network rates that may still be helpful or help you move towards meeting your deductible. We may also be able to contact your insurance company to see if we can join their network to help you.

Even if your insurance is not listed, contact us and we can discuss other options. You can view our information about receiving counseling without insurance, or we can help refer you to a counselor who does accept your insurance.

I don't have insurance. Can I afford counseling?

Yes! Lewisville Counseling Services wants to make counseling services available and affordable. Give us a call and talk to us about our income based sliding fee scale and different payment options for counseling. Money should never be a barrier to getting the help you need.

What can I expect in my first session?

Counseling is a process. It means us getting to know you and you getting to know us. Your first session of counseling will involve a lot of background information and most importantly what you are wanting to achieve through counseling.

In order to speed up the information gathering process, we like to obtain as much general information about you a head of time. Make sure to provide your information on your client intake forms before your first appointment.

What kind of counseling do I need?

A better question to ask may be what kind of counselor do I want to work with. Every counselor has a different philosophy on how to work with their clients and conduct counseling sessions. At Lewisville Counseling Services we use a variety of approaches to meet clients where they are, listen to what they need, and help them get where they want and need to go.

What do I do if I don't get along with my counselor?

Sometimes personalities just do not mesh. This is not necessarily a bad thing. Different people have different needs. We want counseling to be successful for you. Lewisville Counseling Services works closely with a number of counselors in the area with a variety of personalities and approaches. If your needs are not being met, we will work hard to find the right person for you to work with.

How long will I be in counseling?

The goal of counseling is to get out of counseling! Every person and their situation is different. Lewisville Counseling Services wants to work with you so that you can identify where you are, know where you want to be, and assist you in getting there.
